Please use Bing translation instead of poor Google translation.
    1. Window Title Restriction
    2. Label restrictions
    3. Software limitations
I've been using software to quit Internet addiction for more than six years.
The window title restriction is most useful.
Just warning or alarm is not enough. We should restrict the software and application that opens that window, software, label directly.

It could be not only negative(like alarm), but just a reminder, or achievement.

I use ManicTime to time spent in work-related apps vs. personal-related apps.

Typically, I dedicate Chrome to work, and Firefox to casual browsing.

During the day, I compare my usage of both, and if Firefox is too close Chrome, I buckle down on actual work -- Chrome.
I try to keep Chrome at least at 80% of usage, and Firefox at most at 15% (and that's a lot), roughly.

I thought of something that my be a nice addition to ManicTime (maybe for paying users?): notify (beep, blink, etc.) the user when an app (or a group of apps) is at risk of passing a threshold (time or percentage, or in comparison to another app or group of apps).

Thus, users can get live update of they usage, and adapt accordingly.

I figurec I might not be the only one using ManicTime for such comparison, so I'm putting mu suggestion here as it seems consistent with the feature request :)

That would be a great feature! Can you tell whether there are plans to implement something like this?

  • Alexander Boelen commented  ·   ·  Flag as inappropriate

My favorite implementation would hold a limit per timeslice as a user choice.
Several projects have a timebudget per project/task for the curent period (between two dates), others for the whole project (from start-to-end date of the project/task at hand) and again others a budget e.g. per month, week or day.
I would like to receive a warning when e.g. 80% of the time is used... Perhaps even change the interface color of the task to orange when close to the limit, to red when over limit.

It should be possible not only for applications and autotags but for tags too.

Therfore you would create tags with an extra variable for maximum possible time that can be spent on it. If the time that was spent on that tag is longer then you should get an alarm.

    Example:

    You plan a project with

    Tag (task) a 8 h
    Tag (task) b 25 h
    Tag (task) c 12 h
    an so on

When you tag more then 8 hours on tag a you will get an alarm.

In further steps it shoul be integrated into statistics with excess time.

I'm not sure if you are all talking about the same thing.
This is my understanding of the feature.

I can set alarms like these. Notify me when:
Firefox is used for more than 4hrs
facebook.com is used for more than 3hrs
Some autotag is used for more than 2 hrs.

This rules are set by day. I guess it could also be for longer periods, but mostly it is useful by day.

I'm not sure how this translates to excel? I think what you want is tag planning. So where I can say ahead of time, I will work on xy for 2 hrs... If so, I think this is a different feature...

This is now one of the key features we are missing in ManicTime. At the moment we have to export thetimes spent on tags and compare them to our excel sheets. :(
Would be much easier if this feature would be integrated.

We also would like this feature.
Therfore there should be a possibility to add times to tags.

There can be also alarm when we spent less time than limit per day.
